St. Petersburg has transformed into one of Florida's most dynamic cities, blending arts, culture, and waterfront living with historic neighborhoods and modern development. The downtown renaissance has sparked renewed interest in residential areas throughout the city.
Home styles in St. Pete range from historic bungalows in Old Northeast to mid-century modern gems and contemporary waterfront properties. Each architectural style presents unique remodeling opportunities that honor the home's character while adding modern functionality.
The city's thriving food scene and design-conscious culture influence remodeling trends, with homeowners seeking kitchens that support entertaining and bathrooms that serve as personal retreats. Quality craftsmanship is expected in this sophisticated market.
St. Petersburg maintains old Florida charm at the northern tip of St. Petersburg Island, with beach cottages, pine-tree lined streets, and a deliberate absence of high-rise development. The city's nostalgic character attracts those seeking authentic island living.
Historic cottages in St. Petersburg often require sensitive remodeling that preserves character while adding modern comforts. Compact kitchens benefit from creative design solutions, while bathrooms may need updates that respect original architecture.
The island's building restrictions and premium property values make quality craftsmanship essential. Remodeling in St. Petersburg demands attention to detail that honors the community's irreplaceable character.
Bathroom remodeling in St. Petersburg is no small task - it can involve a wide range of upgrades depending on your goals. Some homeowners focus on replacing outdated fixtures, while others choose to completely reconfigure the space for better flow and usability.
Common bathroom renovation elements include:
Scopes range from a single shower replacement to a full gut renovation. Whichever direction you go, the same TGA team coordinates design, demo, plumbing, electrical, tile, vanities, and final finish work, and we build to Florida code with the climate (humidity, salt air, ventilation) factored in from the start.
St Petersburg Bathroom Project Types We Handle
Wall-surface options we install most often:
A bathroom remodel is one of the most impactful upgrades you can make to your home. Beyond aesthetics, it improves comfort, efficiency, and long-term value.
Homeowners often remodel because:
In St. Petersburg’s competitive housing market, updated bathrooms consistently rank as one of the highest-return renovation investments.
Florida bathrooms take a beating from humidity year-round, plus salt air for coastal St Petersburg homes. Older grout lines stain, ventilation falls behind the moisture load, vanities warp, and what was a fine bathroom a decade ago starts to feel small, dim, and hard to clean.
With TGA Kitchens & Remodeling, your bathroom can become:
From flooring and vanities to showers, tubs, and layout changes, we tailor every design to your home and lifestyle.

When it comes to a bathroom remodeler in your area, you have a lot of options at your fingertips. You may be surprised at what can be done even if you’re dealing with specific space restraints. We have experience handling all types of remodels so that all you have to do is sit back, relax and let our experts take care of every detail, large and small.
Most full bathroom remodels in St. Petersburg run $30,000 to $75,000 in 2026. Room size, plumbing changes, and finish level drive the spread. Tariffs in place since early 2025 have added roughly 7% to imported tile, fixtures, and glass. That's why a 2024 quote from a neighbor no longer predicts your number. Here's how the tiers break down.
The layout stays put. You get new floor tile, a tub-to-shower conversion or a new surround, plus vanity, counter, lighting, and fixtures. This tier fits post-war ranches in Meadowlawn and condos along the 4th Street corridor. It's also the smart play when you're updating before a sale.
We take the room down to the studs and rebuild it. That means new waterproofing, a custom tile shower, frameless glass, stone counters, and updated plumbing and electrical behind the walls. Most St. Pete clients land here. Old galvanized supply lines and 1960s wiring get corrected while the walls are open.
Walls move, plumbing relocates, and the whole space gets rethought. Think freestanding tub, double vanity, curbless shower, and a private water closet. Heated floors, steam, and custom millwork push totals past $100,000. Because we build a 3D photorealistic model first, you approve every tile and fixture before demo starts.
One note on our numbers: they include labor, materials, permits, and project management. That matters for the flood-zone math below, because the city counts all of it.

Pinellas County runs remodel permits through five different systems, and St. Petersburg enforces a flood-zone rule stricter than FEMA's. Here's who issues your permit, what it costs in 2026, and how to avoid the expensive traps.
Read the guideYes, for any real remodel. The city requires permits when you move or replace plumbing, alter electrical, rebuild a shower pan, or open walls. Swapping a faucet or toilet in the same spot usually doesn't need one. We pull every permit under license CBC1268077 and schedule the inspections for you.
St. Petersburg caps improvements in flood zones at 49% of the structure's market value, one point stricter than FEMA's 50%. Everything counts toward that cap: labor, materials, permit fees, and contractor overhead. Land value doesn't. A bathroom alone rarely gets close. Pairing it with a kitchen in the same permit window can.
If the property appraiser's structure value looks low, a private appraisal for $400 to $700 often raises your headroom. We run this math with you before design begins, not after.
More than drywall, honestly. Bungalows in Historic Kenwood and the Old Northeast have wood lath under plaster, which is heavier, dustier, and slower to remove. Homes built before 1978 require lead-safe work practices, and we test old textures for asbestos before cutting. Plaster also hides surprises like knob-and-tube wiring and mortar-bed tile, so we carry a repair allowance in these quotes.
Plan on three to five weeks of construction for a same-footprint remodel. Layout changes stretch that to six or eight. Before we start, design and selections take about three to four weeks, and city permit review runs two to four. Flood-zone paperwork can add a week or two, so we file it early.
Yes, and it won't look clinical. Curbless showers, hidden blocking for future grab bars, comfort-height toilets, wider doorways, bench seats, and slip-resistant tile all disappear into the design. Most of these choices cost little when planned early and a lot when retrofitted later.
Most families do, as long as there's a second bathroom. We seal the work zone with dust barriers, protect your floors, and clean up daily. If it's your only bath, plan around three to four weeks without it, and we'll compress the schedule where we can.
Two of our recent master baths sit in towns that share a border with St. Petersburg. Same flood rules, same housing stock, same crews.
Gulfport sits on St. Pete's southwest border, with the same 1920s-to-1950s housing stock. Our clients there wanted a master bath that felt like a spa, not an afterthought. We designed the full space in photorealistic 3D before demolition, so every finish was approved on screen. The finished room reads as a true spa bath, which is rare in Gulfport's older homes.
Treasure Island borders St. Petersburg across Boca Ciega Bay, a short hop over the causeway from Central Avenue. Barrier-island work means salt air, coastal permitting, and the substantial-improvement math we covered above. We planned this master bath's scope with those rules in front of us, not as a mid-project surprise. That discipline is exactly what a flood-zone remodel in St. Pete proper requires.
Both projects began the same way yours would: a design consultation at our Pinellas Park Design Center, a short drive from St. Pete. We're licensed (CBC1268077), bonded, and insured, and we hold a 4.9-star rating across 110+ Google reviews. Call (727) 800-4050 and ask to see photos from both projects.
